MEET THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

President - Erin Davis

Erin Davis serves as the 2020-2021 president of the National Association of Black Journalists. She is a senior studying convergence journalism with an emphasis in TV reporting and a minor in public service and leadership. As president she is responsible for overseeing the chapter and makes executive decisions regarding the planning and execution of the chapter's yearly curriculum.

Vice President - Janelle Finch

Janelle Finch serves as the 2020-2021 Vice President of NABJ-MU. Her role as Vice President is to serve and delegate when the President is not present or unable. In her time at NABJ, I have also been a general body member and the Mentorship Chair.

Commitee Chair - Lourdes Torrey

Lourdes Torrey serves as the 2020-2021 NABJ MU Committee Chair. She is a a junior from Atlanta, Ga with a emphasis in strategic communication. Her role includes planning Unity Conference, Media Tour, and Senior Send-off with the Vice Committee Chair. 

Vice Commitee Chair - Avery Dalal

Avery Dalal serves as the 2018-2019 Vice Committee Chair of NABJ-MU. He is a senior convergence journalism major from Dallas, Texas. As Vice Committee Chair, one of his responsibilities is helping the Committee Chair plan the annual Unity Conference as well as Media Tour.

Treasurer - Kieran Malloy

Kieran Malloy serves as the Treasurer for the 2018-19 school year. He is a I am a strategic communications and business junior, hoping to enter the PR industry. In NABJ, he serves as the chapter Treasurer. In his role, he manages the chapters budget, finances and fundraising efforts. For fun, Kieran enjoys the outdoors, hangout with friends and listening to music. 

Public Relations Chair - Jalyn Byrd

Jalyn Byrd serves as the 2020-2021 Public Relations Chair of NABJ-MU. She is from St. Louis, Missouri, and a a senior at the University of Missouri majoring in Journalism, with an emphasis in Strategic Communication -Strategy & Public Relations. She's in charge of creating and managing all social media and ad promotions.  

Mentorship Chair - Kayla Pettis

Kayla is a Junior studying Strategic Communications emphasis with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences. As Mentorship Chair, she is the organizer for the mentorship program and activities. In her position, she helps maintain the relationships between the upperclassmen and underclassmen. 

Secretary - Lauren Purdy

As secretary, Lauren is the main point of communication between the chapter and its members. From organizing meeting rooms to sending weekly emails and reminders about important dates, announcements, and internship and scholarship opportunities, she ensures that all members are up to date.

Sergeant At Arms - India Brown

India Brown serves as the 2018-2019 Sergeant-at-Arms of NABJ-MU. She was born and raised in Washington D.C. and is now a Journalism major with an emphasis area in Strategic Communication. She has always had a passion for service and this role allows her to create great service events for our members. 

Outreach Chair - Sydney Olishile

Sydney Olishile serves as the Outreach Chair for the 2020-2021 school year. She is from St. Louis, Missouri and a Junior here at the university studying journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications. Her position is responsible for overseeing the coordination of all MU's chapter of NABJ external affairs. This includes staffing all resource fairs, managing meeting presentation requests and maintaining the Facebook and LinkedIn alumni page.
